ESTS International  Exchange Programme

Preface from  Tomasz Grodzki, President of ESTS 2003-4

It is well known that despite progress in telecommunication, personal contact still remains one of the most effective means of practical education in medicine. Many of us have visited other centers to observe clinical practice and developed friendships with other thoracic surgeons on the basis of such training visits. It is relatively easy to arrange such exchange if a trainee works in an academic department but young, talented people from smaller centers sometimes experience difficulties in this process.

Therefore ESTS has decided to help our young members to organize short term training visits in foreign centers. We have prepared a questionnaire to collect details of such exchanges as a first step to increase the number of visits. The data we collect will be available in an information bank on the web for our members.
